Wooden Architecture of Kashmir
I love wooden interiors for they create a very warm ambience to a place. It also gives good aesthetics to the entire setup. Back in Kashmir, since it’s very cold, a lot of wood anyway gets used.
Wood is used in the construction of ceilings, wall panels and so on. This wood is mainly Pine or Deodar. The ornate ceilings especially, called Khutamband Taalav, are truly noteworthy.
Walnut wood is suitable for furniture as it can be beautifully shaped and intricately carved.
Sharing some pictures that I clicked in the very pretty lobby of the hotel Welcomhotel Pine n Peak in Pahalgam, Kashmir.
Pahalgam means a village of shepherds in Kashmiri. It is located 45 kilometres from Anantnag on the banks of Lidder River at an altitude of 7,200 feet in the valley of Kashmir.
Its lush green meadows and pristine waters make it an attractive destination for locals and tourists alike.
